Why I Love Blogging!

Blogging is one of the best ideas to arise from the mind of man.  I love the idea of freethinkers exchanging ideas in an unrestricted marketplace.  Some do it for profit and I applaud their efforts.  Others do it to promote a well thought out cause and I respect their views. Still others, like me, do it because ideas that are put into writing tend to take more rational thought and mental flexibility.  However, my favorite reason for blogging is BECAUSE IT MAKES PEOPLE LIKE (INSERT NAME FROM LIST BELOW)  INSIGNIFICANT IN MY WORLD!

Relying solely on any of the above for information is like relying on a crack dealer to drive you straight to the 12 step meeting.  It's called infotainment and it has only one purpose:  ratings.  Here is very simple logical expression of how high dollar media works:

Sensationalism = Good ratings
Good ratings = Advertisers
Advertisers = Cash
Cash = Survival
therefore:  Sensationalism = Survival
(this explains the increased # of "graphic" warnings on CNN, the incessant Desperate Housewiving on Fox, and even the existence of Olbermann on TV)

It makes me happy that I am able to find men and women of independent thought through blogging.  People who use reason and facts rather than dogma and mysticism.  If you are interested, here are a few examples: 
Kip Williams, Jennifer Blewett Casey, Shea levy, Doug Reich   I may not always agree with these folks, but there writing provokes thought.  Isn't that really the whole point?  From what I have read, all of the aforementioned use facts, logic, and respect for others as a base.

If you have discovered a freethinker who is not tied to high dollar media, I implore you to sent me a note here!  In all honesty, I am not that intelligent (which I discovered again last night while trying to come up with a clever Boolean expression for the above) and can use all the help I can get!
