At the beginning, of course. The kids were being entertained at the school carnival by their grandparents (who are in town for the Fine Art Fair). Instead of vegging and being non-productive, which is what I really wanted to do! I caught up on some much needed planning for the upcoming holiday season. I set up at the dining room table so that I could spread all of the "dead trees" out and get them organized. I switched on the TV for some background noise and entertainment. The channel preference at this particular moment was Fox News (or as some love to call it Faux News). I really don't care that much for any version of the infotainment media (Fox, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, etc.). They are all the same. However, I had heard a tag line I could not resist for The O'Reilly Factor: "Limbaugh runs over Al Gore twice in primetime". Apparently, the ENTERTAINER Limbaugh was on the new Jay Leno show the previous night. I needed the laugh, and it really was funny.
So, to make a long story longer, I left the TV on in the background while I plowed through a mountain of redundant sell sheets, past invoices, and other extraneous paper. When all of a sudden, I hear Sean "I am a great American whacko INFOTAINER" Hannity saying he is going to interview two people who were part of the G20 protests in Pittsburgh. What I witnessed makes me even more uneasy about our educational system and the direction of our country.
I did find the entire interview on Youtube and you can view it here. BEFORE YOU CLICK ON IT, PLEASE READ ON!
I did not think that Hannity gave these ladies a fair shake. Of course, I did not expect that he would. However, I had wished that these two had been at least somewhat prepared for what they had to know they would face. If this is an example of how our universities are preparing our young people, we are in serious trouble. Especially PhD programs!
It is worth noting that this is a perfect example of the right wing media finding the most non-ideal poster children for the left. This is exactly the same thing that the liberal media does to the right. For example, William Kostric being interviewed by Chris Matthews. Another example would be the Youtube videos of religious whack jobs at the DC 9-12 march. When people watch these vids and/or programs, they should attempt to keep this in mind.
I respect the fact that these two young ladies have opinions and I have several questions for them. First, why in the world would you go on a show like this? I am inclined to think that self-proclaimed collectivists such as yourselves would know that you are going to be attacked and be at an extreme disadvantage with a professional INFOTAINER like Hannity. Second, what was the point you were trying to make? You went from the G20, to regulating pay, to nationalized health care, to I don't even know? Third, I though you were part of Free the Planet at the University of Pittsburgh? If that is so, why are you not even listed as members on their Facebook page? In fact, as of this morning, there is not even a mention of your interview anywhere on the group's page. Fourth, if you are indeed supporters of this organization, why did you not strive to promote some of their goals on national television? I did not see anything on the Free the Planet site about "limiting incomes to $200,000 for a family of four".
Serious discussion is needed for the issues we as a republic face. If you want to be a part of it, stop wasting your time with self-promoters like Hannity and reach out for people who see the world in different ways. I for one, would be happy to have the discussion with you.
Oh, and by the way....you cannot rationally condone the vandalism that occurred. It violates the rights of the property owners.

Feel free to comment. All civil discourse is welcome (especially dissenting views). I will not moderate. However, if you want to say it, have the guts to put your name to it.
